In the movie Tideland, Jeliza-Rose's parents are hopeless drug addicts. When her father finds her mother dead fears to be charged with homicide. He takes Jeliza along to her grandmother's house in a desolate country region. With her father passed out, the girl mentally transfers to a fantasy world she and her doll heads enter magically. Jeliza's adventures also star the locals Dell and his brother Dickens. In this collection, I was inspired by how delicate and powerful Terry Gilliam's character (Jeliza-Rose), as a young girl who injected drugs into her father's arm so he could "travel" she was as sweet as a rose with the harshest thorns ripped from the ground. Another main point to the collection was a moment from the movie in which Dell got attacked by the bees, the insect is symbolic of Jeliza Rose, small and delicate in appearance, but always intense and powerful. This collection created surrounding delicacy and harshness of lost innocence. All garments inspired by Jeliza's garments and color palette. Creating cocoon-like layers, oversized shapes, cuts and a hive-like tulle.
